The Second Encounter

The halls of Middleton Middle School were bustling with activities at students towards their next class.  Luna hardly noticed the daily chaos, however, as her mind was focused on a more important matter.

“I hope I did already on that book report,” she worried aloud.

“You do alright on *every* book report!” Chibishin reminded her.  “Heck you almost wrote a book about the book you read!  You got nothing to worry about!”  She then frowned slightly.  “Unlike me.  I swear I messed up on that report!  I couldn’t even finish the book!  It was sooooo boring!”

“I’m sure you did fine.  Your book report was...adequate,” Luna reassured her in as nice a way as she could.

Chibishin just muttered something under her breath as the two made a quick stop by her locker.  Once she opened the door she was surprised to find something that definitely wasn’t in there before, a small yellow Post-It noted stuck to the inside of the door.  She pulled it off and read the simple message scribbled onto it.

“Hey Green Genes, meet me on the playground at 6.

                                                     -Kat.”

“How did she...?” she mumbled in amazement.

“What is it?” Luna asked.

“Huh?” Chibishin looked up at her voice.

She then smiled a bit too brightly as she quickly crumbled up the small piece of paper.

“Nothing!  It’s nothing!  Don’t worry about it,” she said before she changed out the books she needed and slammed the locker door closed.  “Oh we better hurry or we’ll be late for the next class!”

She then darted off down the hall, leaving Luna standing still in a slightly stumped state.  The bluenette shook her head and glared at her retreating friend.

“You know keeping secrets isn’t the best way to treat your friends!” she shouted before she chased after her.

Later that evening, after the Possible family had finished the nightly food and snarking session they called dinner, Chibishin was able to sneak out of the house.  Which was actually quite an impressive feat given who lived there.  She took her sister’s old bicycle, which she claimed as hers anyway, and rode back to the school.  At least she *assumed* the note meant the elementary school playground that was attached to the middle school.  Thankfully her assumption was correct as when she arrived she could make out Kat’s black clad form on the monkey bars dim light provided by the street lamps.  Of course the young thief wasn’t hanging on them but rather carefully walking across one of the sides like a tight rope walker.  Despite her annoyance with the blonde Chibishin had to admit it *was* rather impressive.  She watched as Kat made her way to the end of the metal structure then leapt off and performed a perfect barrel roll in midair then landed expertly on her feet.  It was then that Chibishin decided to make her presence known.

“Hey you!” she shouted as she stomped over to the thief.

Kat snapped her head in the direction the voice had come from, ready to make a break for it if need be.  She relaxed just a bit when she saw Chibishin’s leather jacket clad form coming her way.

“Got my note I see,” she replied with an amused smirk.

“Yeah!  How did you even *do* that?!” she demanded.

The other shrugged.  “School security sucks and I’ve been breaking combo locks ever since I was eight,” she casually explained.

Chibishin blinked in amazement at ease of that answer then narrowed her eyes into a glare once again.

“Fine, whatever,” she growled.  “*Why* did you do it?!”

“Like I said before you fascinate me and I wanted to talk some more,” Kat replied with the same air of casual indifference as she wandered over to the swings.

“And why *should* talk to you?!  You’re just a common thief!”

“Pretty,” the blonde corrected her with a raised finger.

“What?!” the pigtailed girl asked in shock.

Kat smirked again as she looked over her bare shoulder at Chibishin.

“Last time you called me a ‘pretty thief’,” she remained her.

A deep blush formed over the pale green girl’s face just before she glared at the blonde incredulously.

“That was just a stupid mistake I made!” she defended herself.

“Uh huh,” Kat nodded, unconvinced.

“It WAS!” Chibishin shouted louder, this time stomping one of her feet the ground.

“You know Green Genes, you’re kinda cute when you’re flustered like this.”

The blush deepened and Chibishin seemed to grow even more incoherent as she tried to form *some* kind of rebuttal or denial.  Kat just laughed her humorous flailing before she plopped down into one of the swings.

“This is the second time we’ve met and I can already tell you’re gonna be fun to mess with,” she mused.

Chibishin’s flustered face went right back to any angry one.

“Oh yeah?!  Well you won’t if I leave!  Which is what I’m doing!” she shouted then started to storm off.

“Oh come on!  I’m just teasing you!” Kat shouted after her even though she remained on the swing.  “Come back and let’s talk!”

The other girl stopped in her tracks then spun around on her right heel and placed her hands on her hips as she gave the thief her full attention again.

“And why *should* I?!  You tried to steal my friend’s laptop and stole who knows what from dozens of the people!  Like I said you’re just a common thief!” she repeated.

“First off, ain’t *nothing* common about me!” Kat stated proudly.  “Secondly, one of your moms used to a be thief too.  One of the best even!  So that’s in...whatever weird blood you have.  Actually, yeah, do you have, like, green blood or anything?”

Chibishin moved her arms from her hips to cross them over her chest.  “That’s none of your business.”

“Whatever,” Kat said she rolled her eyes then patted the swing next to her.  “Here have a seat.”

The youngest Possible stalled for a moment then sighed and against her better judgement went over to the swing and sat down next to the other girl.  She instinctually rapped her fingerless gloved hands around the chains and started to swing back and fourth absent mindedly.

“I don’t know why I’m doing this,” she muttered.

“Cause you like to live dangerously,” Kat pointed out.  “I could tell by the way you chased me the first time we met.”

“That was like a week and a half ago!” Chibishin barked.  “Don’t make it sound like it was some kind of life changing experience!”

“Wasn’t it though?” the blonde asked.  “I mean if you hadn’t chased me then we wouldn’t have met and we wouldn’t be here.”

“Whatever!” the pigtailed girl scoffed with a dismissive wave.  “I’m *still* thinking I should call the cops on you.  Or one of my moms.  Or both!”

“Oooh gonna go tell mommy on me, are you?” Kat taunted.  “What are you, five?  Grow up.”

“Don’t tell me to grow up!  You’re my age!”

“I’m thirteen,” the blonde corrected.

“Oh a whole year older than me! *Maybe*!  That still doesn’t make you an authority on...anything!”

Kat smirked.  “You didn’t have an example, did you?”

Chibishin looked down at the ground.  “Shut up!”

The technically teenage girl laughed as she started to swing ever so softly.

“You know, normally I don’t believe in this crap but maybe it was fate that we met,” she mused.

“How do you figure that?” Chibishin asked.

Kat shrugged.  “Just a feeling I have.  You ever just get the feeling that sometimes you meet people in life that you’re *supposed* to meet?”

The other girl stared at her for a second.  “Noooo...”

“Well that’s your loss.”

“Does this mean you’re gonna be stalking me around my school and house?”

“Maaaaaybeeeee!” Kat teased with an evil looking grin.

“Well I can tell you right now that bit of stalking my house will NOT end well for you,” Chibishin warned her.

“Aaaawww...concerned for my safety already, are you?  That’s sweet!” she pressed.

Again a small blush formed over Chibishin’s cheeks.

“Would you stop it with that?!” she growled and pushed the girl’s swing away from hers.

The momentum of the push caused Kat to swing sideways just a bit before she sailed back towards Chibishin.  She kicked herself off the ground to give her swing a bit more force then bummed into the other girl with her hip.  The impact caused Chibishin’s swing to move aside as well and cast an annoyed yet playful look to her companion.  She kicked off the ground as well and bumped into Kat in much the same manner, a small laugh escaping her lips as she did so.  Kat giggled as well before she returned the favor again.  The continued in this manner for a few more minutes, their chuckles quickly turning into full blown laughter.

“See?  You *can* have fun when you loosen up!” Kat exclaimed.  “Maybe *that’s* why we met!”

“Maybe,” Chibishin conceeded when her laughter died down.  “I still don’t like you stealing stuff though.  Especially from my friends!”

“Well if it makes you feel better I won’t steal from either of you again and you can tell her I’m sorry,” Kat relented.

“Do you *mean* that?”

The girl tuned her green eyes upwards and tilted her goggled head from side-to-side as she thought it over.

“Surprisingly yes,” she answered truthfully.

“Well that’s a start,” Chibishin smiled.

“You know I was wrong, you actually look pretty good when you smile too,” Kat complimented.
“Uh...thanks,” the pale green girl blushed yet again.  “So are you...?”

“I don’t care for labels,” the blonde said.  “I just do what feels right and screw what other people think.”

“I...guess.  So let me ask you something else.”

“Shoot.”

“What’s with the goggles?” Chibishin asked, pointing to her unusual fashion accessory.

“What’s with the metal plates on the shoes?” Kat countered, pointing to her own weird taste.

Chibishin paused for a moment.  “Okay good point.”

“I gotta say I *do* really like that jacket though,” the blonde complimented.

“Thanks!” she beamed.  “I really like it too!  I think it and gloves really make me look kinda tough.”  She then frowned a bit.  “But everyone else in my family just says it makes me look cute.”

“Well the pigtails *do* kinda lean more towards the cute side,” Kat remarked.

“But I like my pigtails!” Chibishin pouted, holding onto said tails.

“And you should, you make ‘em work.  Just not sure if it translates to ‘tough’.  But hey the whole outfit works for you, so kudos for that.”

“Thanks again.  You pull off your outfit really well too,” she complimented.

“Oh I know I do,” Kat said with a self satisfied grin.

Chibishin rolled her eyes.  “And so modest.”

Kat chuckled as she got off her own swing then stood in front of Chibishin’s.  She placed her hands right above hers on the chains then leaned in close so their faces where mere inches apart.  Chibishin’s heart began to race as her bright green eyes met the darker green of Kat’s.  They stared at each other for what felt like hours before the older girl moved her hand away from the swing’s chain and ran it through Chibishin’s left pigtail.  The pale green girl suppressed a shudder at the feeling as she tried to form some kind of rational thought.  Unfortunately nothing came to her and all she could do was stare up into Kat’s increasingly pretty face.

The next thing she knew she felt herself falling backwards off the swing.  She barely registered that Kat’s other hand had pushed her shoulder and during the fall she untied the ripped holding her one pigtail in place.  The blonde then smirked deviously at her as she held up the green bit of fabric.

“Thanks for the keepsake!  Be seeing ya Green Genes!” she teased before sprinting away.

Chibishin blinked as she processed what just happened.

“Hey!  What happened to not stealing from me?!” she shouted at the retreating blonde.

“I didn’t!  I traded ya!” she could barely make out.

The young girl blinked then finally realized there was a new weight in the right pocket of her jacket.  She pulled out a smart phone with another Post-It note on it.

“Call ya!
      -K”

Chibishin sat in the dirt in absolute confusion and absent mindedly ran a hand through the loose side of her hair as she continued to stare at the phone.

“When did she...?  How did she...?  WHY did she...?  I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!” she shouted out to the evening sky.

The End.
Well here is it, the second meet up between Chibishin and Kat and definitely where things get a bit more...slashy.  Still it's more a budding, school girl romance than anything else.  And hell maybe not even a romance at all given the way Kat acts.  But it seems she is already loosening up around Chibishin.  Because that's the kind of power both Shin's have, the ability to make people open up and feel at ease.  It probably had something to do with their adorkableness factor.  Which is pretty high!  Though maybe higher on Chibi than on Shin at this point.  Hmmm...

Despite the cliffhanger ending here I don't immediately have anything else for these two in mind but I'm sure something will come to me.  They do play off each other well so that always encourages me to write more.  And I'm sure if *I* don't there are some others here who will do *something* with them.  You know who you are.

For now I just hope you all enjoyed this bit of harmless fluff.
