Cross

A disenfranchised priest from one of Hope City's many rundown and almost forgotten chruches, the man known as Cross had almost completely lost his faith when he heard news of a mysterious winged figure helping the victims of the city's corruption. At first he believed this creature to be an angel sent from on high to punish the wicked but he found out it was just a woman in a bird themed costume. This revelation almost caused him to slip into another bout of depression but instead it inspired him. While not an angel, she surely stood as a symbol of righteous fury as prominent as anything God would reign down upon them.

Inspired by this revalation, he knew it was his holy duty to take up the fight as well. Only instead of merely letting the mortal and corruptable police force handle the sinners, he would send them before God Almighty to face their final judgement. And so he created a costume based around his own preist robes and the singal of the cross as well as two costumized pistols with a cross meticulously carved into each shell casing. It was this added feature that caused the police and the press to give him the name Cross, one he was all too happy to take up.

As his killing spreed continued throughout the city, it became clear to the police and Nitehawk that his definition of "wicked" was a bit different from theirs. He started with the rapiest, murders and muggers first but then quickly moved onto the pimps, prostitutes and anyone else he saw as "immoral" including a gay couple and an elder Jewish man.

Knowing this madman had to be stoped, Nitehawk poured all her energy into tracking him down before he could find his next target. She arrived just in the nick of time to save an innocent Protestant man from Cross' bullets and subdued the deranged priest quickly enough.

Though he now sits in a cell at Blackrock Asylum, he knows that when the time is right, God will arrange for him to be free for there is still much more work for him to do.
